PABNA, June 3: One person was killed and five others were injured as two groups of Awami League activists clashed at Tebunia of Pabna on Thursday, reports bdnews24.com.
Three people have been arrested after the incident.
The victim has been identified as Abul Kashem, 40.
Pabna Sadar police chief Matiar Rahman told bdnews24.com that local Awami League leaders Mohammad Ali and Hasibur Rahman Hasu had been in a dispute over appointment of labourers at a seed storage.
The clash erupted when Ali''s men beat up two workers loyal to Hasu at about 8am, he said. They also killed Hasu''s elder brother Abul Kashem with sharp weapons.
The injured people were admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Among them, Muktar Hossain, 40, and Abdul Hannan, 35, had critical injuries.
Pabna police superintendent Jamil Ahmed visited the spot. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.
